My law enforcement career spans more than 38 years in both the public and private sectors. I began with the Laurel County Sheriff's Office before joining the Kentucky State Police in 1991, where I retired as a Master Trooper.

During my tenure with the Kentucky State Police, I served eight years on the Special Response Team (SRT), participating in high-risk operations, hostage rescue, executive protection, and tactical response. For more than 27 years, I have trained law enforcement officers and military personnel worldwide in firearms, tactical operations, active shooter response, officer safety, leadership, and use-of-force instruction.

I joined the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) in 2010 as an instructor and have served in the Firearms, Advanced Individual Training, Patrol Tactics, and Patrol Procedures sections. In 2026, I joined the DOCJT Resiliency Section, where I continue supporting Kentucky's first responders through the Kentucky Post-Critical Incident Seminar (KYPCIS).

Throughout my career, I have been honored with the Governor's Medal of Valor, the Medal of Bravery, the Commissioner's Commendation, and the 2015 DOCJT Professional Achievement Award.

Serving in the DOCJT Resiliency Section has brought my career full circle. After decades of preparing first responders for the demands of critical incidents, I now have the privilege of helping them navigate the emotional and personal challenges that can follow. It is an honor to continue serving those who dedicate their lives to protecting others.
